Contiform instructions for women

How To Use Contiform:

The Contiform New User Pack comes complete with 3 sizes (Small, Medium and Large) so you can determine which size is most suitable.

For first time users, we recommend that you have Contiform fitted by a professional continence nurse to ensure it is inserted correctly.

We also recommend that you use the removal ribbon with the Contiform unit as it makes removing Contiform much safer and easier.

Q: How do I know which size is right for me?

A: First try the Medium size, the one in the silver storage pack. Once inserted it should feel comfortable and prevent leakage. If it doesn't feel comfortable or you have difficulty emptying your bladder when you are wearing it, swap to the smaller size. Alternatively, try the Large size if the Medium is comfortable but you find that you're still leaking.

Using Contiform:

Step 1. First empty your bladder and wash your hands.

Step 2. Remove the Contiform from the packaging, wash with warm water and unperfumed soap and rinse well before the first, and subsequent uses. To insert, moisten Contiform with water to help make insertion easier. Do not use petroleum jelly or a lubricating gel as this will make Contiform slippery and may not stay in place.

Step 3. Make sure you are in a comfortable position. Try sitting on the toilet with your legs apart, OR try standing with one leg raised on a stool or a chair, OR try squatting or lying down with knees bent and legs apart. Relax by taking a few deep breaths.

Step 4. To make Contiform easier to insert, push firmly down the middle of the narrow part of the band of the ring with your forefinger and at the same time squeeze the sides of the ring together as shown. It may take a little practice to do this quickly and easily.

Step 5. Once Contiform is correctly positioned in your hand, gently insert it inwards and up towards the back of your vagina until you can no longer feel the ring of the Contiform against your vaginal opening. It should sit behind the pubic bone.

Step 6. Contiform should now be securely in place as shown. You shouldn't be able to feel it but if it is uncomfortable, or you can feel it move, just take it out, rinse in water and try again.

To Remove Contiform

a) To remove Contiform, get into your comfortable position and relax by taking a few deep breaths.

b) Insert your forefinger into your vagina and through the Contiform ring until it hooks around the top of the ring.

c) Slowly pull Contiform down from behind the pubic bone and out of the vagina. The vagina is designed to stretch so the Contiform will come out easily or use the removal ribbon supplied in the package.

A removal ribbon is provided with every New User Pack. The ribbon acts the same way as the string on a tampon. The ribbon is easily attached to the Contiform device. This makes removal of Contiform easy and hassle-free. Any additional ribbons may be purchased when required in the "Where can I purchase Contiform" section of this website.
